–An Extraordinary Number of Spectators Flocked to the City’s Beaches, Waters and Boardwalk to Watch Performances on Both Practice Day & Show Day–

Atlantic City, NJ – August 17, 2023 – The Greater Atlantic City Chamber, Visit Atlantic City and David Schultz  Airshows is proud to celebrate another successful Visit Atlantic City Airshow, which took place this week on Tuesday, August 15 (Practice Day) and Wednesday, August 16 (Show Day). Celebrating 20 years in Atlantic City in 2023, the Visit Atlantic City Airshow continues to be the world’s premier midweek beachfront airshow. This year, the event drew 485,000 people, just shy of a half of million people, to Atlantic City.

“Despite some challenges and delays due to changing weather conditions, we still drew nearly a half a million people to our city’s beaches and Boardwalk for this event, which is quite extraordinary,” said Greater Atlantic City Chamber President Michael Chait and the Director of the Visit Atlantic City Airshow. “What is even more remarkable is that this year saw an unprecedented number of watercraft in the ocean and back bays, which provided a unique and enjoyable perspective to witness the awe-inspiring aerobatics and maneuvers from the water. As we conclude our 20th anniversary year and look to the future, we celebrate another successful Airshow in Atlantic City and are excited for all that is to come!”

“The 2023 Visit Atlantic City Airshow was once again a major success. This free, signature event continues to be the most important event of the year for us in Atlantic City. The economic boost the Airshow brings to the destination is incredible and our casinos and businesses truly look forward to this week. We’re thrilled to continue our partnership and premier sponsor title in 2024,” said Larry Sieg, president and CEO of Visit Atlantic City.

This year’s Visit Atlantic City Airshow featured a combination crowd-favorite military acts like the U.S. Army Golden Knights, U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds, the long-awaited reappearance of the U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier Demo Team and local 177th Fighter Wing of the N.J. Air National Guard, along with civilian acts like Extreme Flight, LLC, Scott Francis Airshows, GO EZ Aerobatics, Classic Air Shows - Super Chipmunk, Jim Beasley and more.

Practice Day, held the day before Show Day (Tuesday, August 15), gives performers a chance to “practice” for the big day. This year, it saw the largest estimated attendance to date, between 150,000-200,000 people on the beaches and Boardwalk in Atlantic City.

“We are always trying to find new ways for the public to experience the Airshow – this year, we really wanted to highlight Practice Day as an alternative to Show Day.  It gives folks a chance to experience the thrills and watch the performances with far less crowds on the beaches and Boardwalk of Atlantic City,” explained Chait.

The Visit Atlantic City Airshow is a community partnership between the Greater Atlantic City Chamber; Visit Atlantic City; the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority; the City of Atlantic City; the 177th Fighter Wing of the N.J. Air National Guard; South Jersey Transportation Authority; FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center; The Atlantic City International Airport; the U.S. Coast Guard; David Schultz Airshows; and the New Jersey State Police.

“There are so many individuals, partners and entities that make the Atlantic City Airshow a success year after year,” added Chait. “First and foremost, we would like to thank the great City of Atlantic City – the residents, businesses, Mayor Small and city staff – for being such gracious hosts. Next, we extend our sincere thanks to Larry Sieg and Visit Atlantic City for their generous support, which has allowed us to continue operating the Airshow for so many years. We also extend our gratitude to the 177th Fighter Wing of the New Jersey National Guard, the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center and South Jersey Transportation Authority for their incredible efforts and exceptional logistical support year after year. Furthermore, a special note of appreciation to the Casino Association of New Jersey for their generous, world-class hospitality in housing all of this year’s performers. To all of our community, military and law enforcement partners – your support, passion and assistance is critical to the success of our Airshow, and we thank you all, for we could not do this without you. Finally, we’d like to recognize and thank all of the Airshow’s spectators and fans that continue to support our performers and attend the event each year.”
