Cyclists will finish their cross-country journey in Atlantic City from June 18 - 24, 2024
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Dec. 7, 2023 – Today, Race Across America (RAAM) announced in partnership with the Atlantic City Sports Commission that Atlantic City will serve as the finish line for the 42nd edition of the cross-country bicycle race, taking place in June 2024. The 3,000 mile coast-to-coast bicycle race begins in Oceanside, CA on June 11, 2024 with finishers expected to begin crossing the finish line in Atlantic City on June 18, 2024.
RAAM will bring over 150 participants, including both amateur and professional cyclists, as well as their support crews, from over 45 countries to Atlantic City. Those competing can do so solo, or in relay teams of two, four and eight. The route travels west to east, traversing the Sierra, Rocky and Appalachian Mountain Ranges, crossing the Colorado, Mississippi, Missouri and Ohio Rivers, and passing through the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts, Monument Valley and Great Plains. The riders wear GPS trackers which allow family, friends, fans and spectators to follow their progress coast to coast across the country. The finish will be live streamed so everyone will be able to witness the range of emotions experienced by those who finish RAAM.

“I’ve raced and finished RAAM twice - team in 2005 and solo in 2006 - finishing in Atlantic City both times,” said Race Across America owner, Fred Boethling. “Finishing RAAM is a very emotional experience. Finishing on the Atlantic City Boardwalk - on the Atlantic shore - is special. We are thrilled to be back in Atlantic City!”
While there is no prize money awarded in Race Across America, cyclists race for a variety of reasons: winning a division, setting a record, seeing the country, sharing an experience with friends, adding their name to the distinguished roster of finishers or simply for the challenge. Participants also have the opportunity to use Race Across America as a platform to raise money for charitable causes, and every year Race Across America participants raise in aggregate over $1 million for a wide range of charitable causes.
All solo racers must qualify for Race Across America, while teams are not required to qualify. Solo racers can qualify by completing a “RAAM Style” Qualifying Race or completing a 24-hour Time Trial RAAM Qualifier. There are 45 RAAM Qualifiers in 20 countries.
